Zebra Renewables
Head of digital for a UK biomass group: four online shops, an Amazon channel and Simplyfi — the e-commerce platform that replaced Kentico
About the client
Zebra Renewables Ltd sells wood pellets, briquettes, kiln-dried firewood and charcoal to homes and businesses across the UK. It does this through four brands — White Horse Energy, Ecoblaze, Firewood.co.uk and Platinum Plus Wood Pellets — and through Amazon UK. Kordevi is contracted as the group's head of digital, with one assistant working under us. We look after the online shops and the digital marketing, and we co-design and build Simplyfi, the group's own e-commerce platform, together with Zebra's in-house team of four developers and a system architect.
The challenge
Biomass fuel is heavy, seasonal and sold by the pallet. Demand jumps in autumn and winter, the same products are sold under several brands to different customers at different prices, and trade buyers shop very differently from households. Four shops and a marketplace have to agree on stock, price and delivery promise, while each brand keeps its own look and voice.
The group's old platform, Kentico, was costly to run and slow to change. Every new campaign page, catalogue tweak or connection to another system needed developer time. Orders, stock, customer support and accounting sat in separate systems that had to be checked against each other by hand. The business could only grow as fast as its digital side could move.
The solution
Together with Zebra's in-house team of four developers and a system architect, we co-design and build Simplyfi — the group's own e-commerce platform. It has replaced Kentico and is steadily growing into the system the whole business runs on: shops for households and for trade, one view of stock across brands and channels, connections to couriers, Amazon and accounting, a helpdesk for customer service, reports for the management team, and page builders so marketing can publish without waiting for a developer.
The four brand websites are built to stay fast even in the busiest weeks of the season. Each brand keeps its own design and content, while behind the scenes they all share one catalogue, one stock count and one flow of orders.
On the marketing side we run SEO and content, Google and Meta advertising and social media for all the brands. We built the Amazon connection and have run the Ecoblaze Amazon UK store — listings, sponsored ads and day-to-day account management. This is a standing role, not a project with an end date: as head of digital we are accountable for how the group performs online.
